Anne Shuttee is a leader in several local and state bar associations. Most recently, from 2010-2011, Anne was President of the Collin County Bar Association, and she has served on the Governing Council of the State Bar of Texas Collaborative Law Section since 2010. She has long been active in the Dallas Bar Association’s Collaborative Law Section, and will serve as Chair of that Section in 2012. In addition, Anne again chaired the corporate counsel subcommittee of the Dallas Bar Association’s pro bono activities committee in 2011, and was vice-chair of the DBA’s Lawyer Referral Service Committee. Anne is a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and was elected a fellow of the Dallas Bar Foundation in April 2011.
In addition to her service to her bar associations, Anne serves as the Vice President of Public Education of the nonprofit Global Collaborative Law Council, and is a frequent speaker before legal and business groups on issues relating to collaborative law, alternative dispute resolution, business litigation, and pro bono legal service.
Among her more recent presentations, in November 2011 Anne spoke on collaborative law before the Texas Wesleyan Business Leadership Symposium, before the Collin County Bar Association, and before a joint meeting of the Dallas Bar Association’s Construction Law and Collaborative Law Sections. Earlier in the year, Anne spoke on collaborative law at the Corporate Counsel Institute, the Rockwall County Bench-Bar Conference, the North Texas Association of Insurance Counsel, and the State Bar of Texas Collaborative Law Section. She also spoke on alternative dispute resolution techniques before a joint meeting of the Corporate Counsel Section and the Business Law Section at the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting in June 2011, and on pro bono service before the Collin County Bar Association’s Corporate Counsel Section in October 2011.
In addition to her live presentations, in August 2011 Anne co-presented a webinar on collaborative law entitled, “Changing the Game: How to Move from Tug of War to Science Project in Settling Business Disputes” that is available for viewing through the West Legal Education Center, and recently recorded a short overview on collaborative law for the Texas Young Lawyers Association’s “Ten Minute Mentor” program. She began publishing a newsletter on collaborative law in December 2011.
Anne is scheduled to speak on collaborative law before the Denton County Bar Association in January 2012 and will be one of the presenters at the State Bar of Texas Collaborative Law Course in February 2012. She will be a co-presenter on collaborative law in March 2012 before TEXPO, a statewide conference of treasury professionals. She is also coordinating the 8th Annual Collaborative Law Training & Symposium scheduled to take place on August 23-24, 2012, in Dallas.
